Contractor RIFs - What's the scoop?

So, I'm a contractor at one of the major LM sites, and there's a growing unease. A few of us on longer-term contracts have been pulled into 'status review' meetings that feel more like performance evaluations with a deadline attached. No clear reasons given, just vague talk about 'project needs' and 'budgetary constraints.' It feels like a soft RIF is happening, but it's all very hush-hush. Management won't give straight answers, and the prime contractors are acting like they don't know anything either. Has anyone else experienced this kind of thing recently? Is it specific to certain programs, or is this a broader trend across the company for contract staff? Trying to figure out if this is a targeted cull or a wider industry thing affecting defense contractors. Any insights would be appreciated.
