Heard whispers about 'resource optimization' - anyone else?

Okay, so I'm in RMS, been here about 7 years as a systems engineer. Lately, I've been hearing some rumblings about 'resource optimization' in meetings, and my manager has been acting kinda weird – distant, less talkative than usual. Has anyone else heard similar things in their org? It's the kind of vague corporate speak that usually precedes something unpleasant, like layoffs or restructuring. I'm trying not to freak out, but my anxiety is through the roof. Anyone have any insight or just general vibes they can share? Location is Denver, CO.

Yeah, I've heard similar buzzwords floating around in Aeronautics. 'Resource optimization,' 'strategic alignment,' all that jargon usually means someone's job is on the line. Honestly, it's probably best to update your resume and start discreetly looking around. Better to be prepared than caught off guard. Document everything you do, too, just in case you need to demonstrate your value.

RMS, huh? Could be nothing. They always have some initiative going on. Remember 'Project Phoenix' back in '18? Huge buildup, lots of worried faces, and it ended up being...new coffee machines. Seriously. Maybe your manager's just stressed about deadlines. Don't jump to conclusions until you see actual pink slips. Easier said than done, I know, but try to relax.
