Hiring freeze on certain roles?

Been trying to get a req approved for a critical position on my team for months now. It was initially fast-tracked, but now it's stuck in some bureaucratic limbo. HR is giving vague answers, and management seems unable to provide updates. This is impacting our ability to deliver on key milestones, and it's frustrating as hell. Are other teams seeing similar slowdowns in hiring, or is it just our specific department/program? It feels like the purse strings are being tightened, even if official layoffs aren't being announced. Makes you wonder about budget allocations and future project pipelines. Anyone else experiencing this hiring bottleneck, especially for specialized technical roles?

Yeah, I've heard similar rumblings across different divisions. Seems like a general slowdown, especially for non-critical or non-specialized roles. Budgets are definitely getting scrutinized more than usual, and anything that isn't absolutely essential for a current, high-priority contract is facing delays. The whole approval process feels like it's gotten significantly longer and more complex recently. Keep pushing, but don't be surprised if it takes a while.

That's rough, especially when you've got a critical need. I haven't personally experienced a complete freeze, but the onboarding timeline for new hires has definitely stretched out considerably over the past year. It feels like every step of the hiring process, from requisition to offer acceptance, is taking longer. Management keeps citing 'budgetary reviews' and 'strategic realignment,' which doesn't offer much comfort when your team is stretched thin. Hope you get your req sorted soon.
