Internal mobility drying up?

Been trying to move internally to a different program for a few months now. Usually, these things happen pretty quickly, or at least you get some feedback. This time around, it feels like my applications are just disappearing into a black hole. Recruiters aren't responding, hiring managers aren't getting back. It's especially weird because my current role is winding down and I was told internal movement would be encouraged. Am I missing something? Is there some unspoken hiring freeze or a general push to keep people exactly where they are? It's making me nervous, especially with the general industry chatter about defense budgets. Anyone else experiencing difficulties with internal transfers lately? Makes you wonder about future opportunities if internal moves are this tough.

Yeah, I've heard similar rumblings across a few different sectors. Seems like internal transfers are really slowing down, even when roles are clearly winding down. Might be a broader company-wide slowdown in hiring, even internally. It's frustrating when you're expecting movement and it just stops. Keep pushing, maybe try reaching out directly to folks on teams you're interested in, bypassing the recruiters if possible. Sometimes a personal connection can cut through the red tape.

This sounds pretty familiar. There have been whispers about a shift in how internal mobility is handled lately, potentially making it harder to move even when your current project is ending. It's definitely not the smooth process it used to be. Maybe there's a focus on retaining talent in current roles for longer, or perhaps some programs are under budget scrutiny, making them hesitant to bring in new people. Hang in there and keep networking.
