I'm beyond frustrated right now. I accepted an offer for a software engineer position in Aeronautics in Fort Worth about a month ago, and I was supposed to start in three weeks. Just got a call from HR saying the position was 'eliminated due to unforeseen budget cuts' and my offer is rescinded. I already put in my notice at my old job! Anyone else experience this recently? I'm scrambling to find something new now. Any advice or leads would be greatly appreciated. Feeling completely screwed over.

Wow, that's terrible news! I'm really sorry to hear that happened to you. Companies should definitely be more responsible when making offers. Budget cuts are a lame excuse at this point. I would suggest hitting up LinkedIn hard. Tailor your resume to the kinds of roles you were looking at with Lockheed, and apply to everything relevant. Also, don't be afraid to reach out to recruiters directly – they can sometimes find opportunities that aren't publicly posted. Good luck, you'll land on your feet!

Sounds fishy. I'd be willing to bet it has nothing to do with budget cuts. I work in defense, and there is plenty of money to go around. More likely they found someone else they liked better, but this is an easy out for them. Don't let it get you down. This is just a detour and is fairly common in the industry, especially lately. I would look into contacting a lawyer. You might have grounds for something given you left your last job.
