Anyone else feeling super anxious about potential layoffs?

I've been at Lyft for almost 4 years now, in an engineering role on the maps team. Lately, the vibe has been...off. There's been a noticeable slowdown in projects, more meetings about 'efficiency,' and just a general feeling of uncertainty. I know the whole tech industry is shaky right now, but it feels especially tense here. I'm constantly checking Blind and other forums for any hints or rumors. Am I being paranoid, or is anyone else experiencing this too? It's hard to focus on my work when I'm worried about losing my job. My partner and I just bought a house, so the timing would be absolutely brutal. Just looking to see if anyone else is feeling the same way and maybe has some inside info.

Totally get it. That kind of 'efficiency' talk is never a good sign. I went through something similar at my last job, and it ended with a bunch of us getting laid off. Start updating your resume and discreetly reaching out to your network. Better to be prepared than caught off guard. Also, focus on documenting your accomplishments – makes things easier later, if the worst happens.

Honestly, you might be overthinking it. Every company has periods of slowdown and restructuring. The maps team is pretty essential to Lyft, so I doubt they'd cut too deep there. Maybe try talking to your manager about your concerns? It's possible they can offer some reassurance, or at least give you a better understanding of what's going on. Blind is usually just full of doomsayers anyway.
