Thinking about my 'Plan B' - what's a realistic severance if it comes to it?

Okay, trying to stay optimistic but also realistic here. I've been with Lyft for almost 6 years now, currently in a Senior Program Manager role. With all the recent whispers and the general economic climate, I can't shake the feeling that something might be brewing. I haven't seen any official announcements, but the vibe is definitely shifting. Does anyone have any intel or educated guesses on what a typical severance package looks like at Lyft for someone with my tenure? Specifically curious about how stock options (RSUs) are usually handled in these situations – do they vest early, get paid out, or just disappear? Trying to get a handle on potential financial impact so I can start planning my next steps just in case. Appreciate any insights, even if it's just speculation based on past events.

Anyone else notice hiring freeze affecting non-eng teams too?

Hey everyone, been seeing a lot of posts about frozen requisitions on the engineering side, which is understandable given the market. But lately, I've noticed it spreading to other departments. I'm in a marketing role, been here about 4 years, and my team's open req for a new specialist has been stuck in 'review' for over two months now. My manager is being super tight-lipped, just saying 'budget constraints'. It's not just us either, I've heard similar rumblings from folks in Ops and Biz Dev. Feels like a broader hiring slowdown than just tech roles. Anyone else in non-eng departments seeing this or getting any clarity?

Has anyone been moved to a 'Performance Improvement Plan' recently?

Throwaway account here. I've been with Lyft for almost 5 years, primarily in a customer support management role. Over the past month, my direct manager has been scheduling a lot more 1:1s, focusing on very specific metrics that feel like they've been plucked out of thin air. Yesterday, they presented me with a formal PIP. It feels incredibly targeted and comes out of nowhere, especially since my team hit our targets last quarter. I'm wondering if this is becoming a pattern elsewhere in the company, or if this is just my specific situation. Curious if anyone else has been put on a PIP lately, especially if you're in a people management or senior individual contributor role. Trying to figure out if this is a personal issue or a broader company strategy.

Seeing a lot of 'frozen' requisitions on LinkedIn lately - anyone else?

Hey all, been working as an engineer on the core services team for about 3 years now. Been keeping an eye on LinkedIn for my own career development and just noticed a bunch of Lyft job postings that were active a week or two ago are now marked as 'hiring freeze' or just disappeared altogether. This is different from the usual trickle of roles opening and closing. Wondering if anyone else in other departments (product, marketing, ops?) is seeing similar signals? It's not a direct layoff announcement, but it feels like a strong indicator of hiring slowdown or potentially something more. Trying not to jump to conclusions, but the timing feels... off. Anyone got any intel or seeing the same across the pond?

Is it time to jump ship? Recruiting activity suddenly spiked...

I've been seeing a massive uptick in LinkedIn recruiter activity targeting me and my team (Product). It's been like this for the past few weeks. I'm not actively looking, but the sheer volume of InMail and connection requests is kinda freaking me out. Feels like the recruiters know something we don't... or maybe just opportunistically preying on the anxiety. Either way, I've updated my resume and started passively browsing just in case. Anyone else experiencing this? Is it a coincidence or a sign?

Worried about performance reviews being used to justify cuts?

Anyone else nervous about these upcoming performance reviews? I'm on the engineering side, been here for almost 4 years, and while I think my work is solid, the overall vibe feels...off. Like they're looking for any reason to mark people down. I'm not usually paranoid, but I've seen this happen at other companies before layoffs. It's a classic way to build a case for letting people go "due to performance" instead of just saying it's a cost-cutting measure. Makes severance packages cheaper, I guess. Am I crazy, or are others feeling this too?

Rant: So tired of the constant re-orgs and uncertainty

Honestly, I'm so burnt out. It feels like every six months there's a new re-org, a new strategy, a new VP promising everything will be different this time. I'm in the data science org, and it's been a revolving door of leadership. How are we supposed to actually *build* anything when the ground is constantly shifting beneath our feet? I bust my butt, work long hours, and try to stay positive, but it's hard when you feel like you're just a pawn in some corporate game. And the constant fear of layoffs hanging over our heads doesn't help. I'm starting to think I need to get out of this industry altogether. I came here for stability, but stability seems to not exist here in big tech.

Severance Package Question - Trying to plan ahead

Okay, hypothetical question: If Lyft *were* to do another round of layoffs, what do you think the severance package would look like? I know it varies based on tenure, role, and location. I'm trying to do some 'worst-case scenario' planning. I'm a senior PM, located in SF, been with the company for 3 years. What have people seen in the past, or heard rumblings about? I'm mainly concerned about understanding how benefits are handled during severance. What happens to stock options? When does health insurance run out? Anything else I should be thinking about?

Anyone else feeling the pre-layoff anxiety lately?

I've been at Lyft for almost 5 years now, in engineering. I remember the last big layoff a couple years ago and the atmosphere leading up to it was so thick you could cut it with a knife. Lately, I'm getting that same vibe again. Lots of closed-door meetings, weird reorganizations that don't seem to make sense, and a general sense of people being on edge. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I've started updating my resume and quietly reaching out to my network. Better safe than sorry, right? Anyone else feeling this?

Lyft interview - behavioral tips needed!

I have a final round interview coming up for a senior data scientist role, and it's heavily focused on behavioral questions. I've prepped the STAR method, but I'm still nervous. Does anyone have any specific tips for behavioral questions at Lyft? What are some of the values they really look for? Any advice on how to stand out and make a good impression? Also, what is the best way to handle questions when you don't have a perfect experience relating to the prompt? Thanks!

Severance Package Question - Stock Options

If a layoff happens (and I'm REALLY hoping it doesn't), what's the deal with stock options? I've been granted a decent amount over my time here (2+ years in product), and some are vested, some aren't. If I get laid off, do I lose all the unvested options? Also, how long do I typically have to exercise the vested ones after leaving the company? Trying to understand the potential financial impact in case the worst happens. Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated. I've read through the documentation, but it's all legalese and hard to understand the practical implications. Thanks in advance!

Anyone else feeling super anxious about potential layoffs?

I've been at Lyft for almost 4 years now, in an engineering role on the maps team. Lately, the vibe has been...off. There's been a noticeable slowdown in projects, more meetings about 'efficiency,' and just a general feeling of uncertainty. I know the whole tech industry is shaky right now, but it feels especially tense here. I'm constantly checking Blind and other forums for any hints or rumors. Am I being paranoid, or is anyone else experiencing this too? It's hard to focus on my work when I'm worried about losing my job. My partner and I just bought a house, so the timing would be absolutely brutal. Just looking to see if anyone else is feeling the same way and maybe has some inside info.
