Thinking about my 'Plan B' - what's a realistic severance if it comes to it?

Okay, trying to stay optimistic but also realistic here. I've been with Lyft for almost 6 years now, currently in a Senior Program Manager role. With all the recent whispers and the general economic climate, I can't shake the feeling that something might be brewing. I haven't seen any official announcements, but the vibe is definitely shifting. Does anyone have any intel or educated guesses on what a typical severance package looks like at Lyft for someone with my tenure? Specifically curious about how stock options (RSUs) are usually handled in these situations – do they vest early, get paid out, or just disappear? Trying to get a handle on potential financial impact so I can start planning my next steps just in case. Appreciate any insights, even if it's just speculation based on past events.

Hey, I get the anxiety. Six years is a long time to invest. While I don't have specific Lyft numbers, in tech generally, for that kind of tenure, you're usually looking at a few weeks of pay per year of service, plus continuation of benefits for a period. Sometimes there's a bonus component, too, depending on your level and if you're above a certain threshold. It's always good to review your employment agreement and any company policies on termination if available. Fingers crossed it doesn't come to that, though!

Honestly, this 'whisper' talk is rampant everywhere right now. It's smart to think ahead, but don't let the rumors paralyze you. Have you talked to your manager directly about team stability or company direction? Sometimes those 'vibes' are just general economic anxiety rather than specific company issues. If you're really concerned, start updating your resume and networking now. That's your best 'Plan B' regardless of what Lyft does. Good luck, hoping for the best for you.
