Manager avoiding 1:1s, feels like something's up

This is getting weird. My manager has been canceling our 1:1s for the past two weeks, citing 'urgent priorities.' They've also been really difficult to reach outside of scheduled meetings, which is out of character. Plus, there's this general air of anxiety amongst a few senior folks I'm friendly with. We haven't had any official announcements, but the subtle signs are starting to pile up. Project timelines are being scrutinized more than usual, and there's a lot of hushed conversations happening. I'm trying not to jump to conclusions, but the vibe is definitely off. Anyone else experiencing this kind of communication blackout or increased scrutiny on projects?

Sounds like a classic case of something brewing behind the scenes. When management starts dodging face-time and communication channels get clogged, it's usually a sign that decisions are being made elsewhere, possibly impacting the team. Keep your ears open and document everything you can, just in case things go south. It might be worth casually checking in with those senior folks to see if they've picked up any concrete rumors.

Oh man, that sounds super unsettling. It's never a good sign when the usual communication patterns break down. It could be anything from a restructuring to some internal politics at play. Honestly, if you can, try to get a direct question in during a brief moment you do have, or even send a polite email asking if there's anything you should be aware of that might be impacting your work or the team. Better to be informed.
