Are we overstaffed in the regional offices?

I’m genuinely curious if people in other regions are feeling the same level of pressure. Lately, it feels like there’s a quiet push to centralize more functions, and it makes me nervous about the long-term headcount in the regional offices. We’ve had a few departures in my group that haven't been filled, and the workload is just being dumped on the rest of us with zero discussion about compensation adjustments. When I bring up the burnout, the leadership just points to the company's 'strategic vision' for the year. It feels like they are intentionally keeping us lean to pad the margins. Has anyone actually seen a formal update on the workforce strategy, or are we all just waiting for the other shoe to drop? I don't want to be the person panicking over nothing, but the silence from the top is getting pretty loud.

Same situation over here in the Midwest region. We’ve had two open roles go dark for over four months now, and management keeps calling it a 'hiring pause' while piling on extra responsibilities. The centralization talk is definitely increasing, and it feels like they are trimming the fat at the expense of our mental health. Honestly, it feels like they are just waiting for more of us to quit so they don't have to deal with severance packages. Keep your head down and start looking at what else is out there because the culture shift is real.

I’ve been with the company for over a decade, and this feels different than past cycles. Every time they start leaning into 'operational efficiency' and centralizing, the regional headcount gets gutted within six to twelve months. It’s incredibly frustrating that leadership hides behind corporate jargon instead of addressing the reality of our workloads. If you’re feeling the burnout, you aren’t alone; the morale in my office is at an all-time low. At this point, I’m just documenting everything and planning my exit before they force our hand.
