Feeling a bit lost after being let go - severance package advice?
So, it happened. Was in the asphalt division, been here 8 years. Got called into HR yesterday, pretty much blindsided. They offered a severance package and I’m trying to figure out if it’s standard or if I should push back. It's X weeks of pay per year of service, plus continued health benefits for Y months. Honestly, I'm still in shock and just trying to process everything. Anyone gone through this at MM recently? Any advice on negotiating or things I should be looking out for? Not sure if I should lawyer up or just sign it. This is rough.
Anyone else hearing rumblings about potential cutbacks soon?
Been with Martin Marietta for about 6 years now, mostly in the aggregates side, specifically on the engineering/planning team. Lately, there's been a weird vibe. My direct manager has been super cagey about upcoming projects and staffing levels, and I overheard some upper management talking about 'streamlining operations' and 'optimizing resources.' It's probably nothing, but it's making me a bit anxious. Anyone else in a similar boat or heard any concrete info? Trying not to jump to conclusions, but the silence is deafening.
