MA cuts: Is anyone else feeling the 'efficiency' squeeze?

The vibe at Mastercard right now is honestly pretty toxic. We’re being told to do more with less because of 'AI integration' and 'structural optimization,' yet the workload has literally doubled. It’s hard to stay motivated when you see the 93 layoffs in Chautauqua and realize that the company is trading people for optics to appease shareholders. The stock is doing great, but for those of us left holding the bag, it feels like we’re just waiting for the next shoe to drop. Has anyone heard if there’s a total hiring freeze heading into 2026? I’ve been looking at my options, but the market looks rough and I’m worried about jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Just looking for some insight from those on the inside—is the worst over, or is this just the start of a broader downsizing plan?

I've been tracking the internal chatter and it’s clear the morale hit is universal. Management loves to talk about long-term growth and structural adjustments, but they completely ignore the burnout in the trenches. When you gut teams to boost margins for shareholders, you lose the institutional knowledge that actually keeps things running. It’s a classic short-term play that leaves everyone else scrambling to fill the gaps while waiting for the next round of cuts to hit. The anxiety is palpable everywhere right now.

It is honestly exhausting to watch them prioritize stock prices over the people who built the infrastructure. Every single 'efficiency' initiative just translates into more weekend hours for the rest of us while leadership pats themselves on the back for lean operations. They are burning through talent so quickly that it feels like the company is cannibalizing its own future. I’m tired of hearing the corporate buzzwords while watching talented colleagues get pushed out the door just to keep the earnings reports looking pretty for the street.
