Severance Package Question: Negotiation?

Hypothetically speaking, if Mastercard were to offer a severance package, is there any wiggle room to negotiate it? I've heard stories of people getting an extra month or two, or maybe some extended benefits. Does anyone have any direct experience with this at Mastercard? I'm trying to figure out if it's even worth attempting to negotiate, or if they have a pretty rigid, take-it-or-leave-it policy. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. I have been at Mastercard over 10 years.

Worth a shot, especially with that tenure. Research similar roles and severance offers to get a sense of market value. Then frame your counteroffer as what it takes to bridge you to a new position, factoring in your years of service. Worst case scenario is they say no, but be polite and professional.

Mastercard's pretty structured in my experience, but 10 years is a long time. They might budge on outplacement services or extending benefits, especially health insurance. Pure cash increase? Less likely, but doesn't hurt to ask. Document everything and maybe consult with an employment lawyer for a quick consult.
