Micron: Performance reviews feel more like judgment day lately.

What's up, Micron folks. I'm in [redacted department] and have always taken my perf reviews seriously. This cycle, however, feels different. The feedback feels unusually critical, even for areas I thought were strong. Lots of emphasis on 'efficiency gains' and 'impactful contributions,' which sounds fine on paper, but the undercurrent feels like they're looking for reasons. I've heard similar stories from colleagues in different orgs too. It’s not just about meeting expectations anymore; it feels like they're nitpicking. Is this just me, or are others feeling the pressure to ‘prove their worth’ in a way that seems… performative? Wondering if this is a company-wide push to justify potential future cuts, or maybe just a bad review cycle for a lot of people. Curious to hear if anyone else is experiencing this heightened scrutiny.

Totally feel this. The pressure to 'prove' every single action feels amplified this year. It's like the goalposts keep shifting, and the usual metrics aren't enough. It's exhausting trying to constantly demonstrate 'impact' when a lot of the work is foundational or collaborative. I've noticed the language around feedback has definitely become more pointed, making it harder to discern genuine areas for growth versus just ticking boxes on a performance scorecard. Hope it improves soon.
