Micron: The 'voluntary' attrition push is getting annoying

It’s getting blatantly obvious that they are trying to push people out without officially calling it a layoff. Between the forced RTO mandates that make zero sense for our specific roles and the sudden shift in performance expectations that essentially set us up to fail, it’s a joke. I’ve seen three senior engineers leave in the last month because the micromanagement has become unbearable. I suspect this is a calculated effort to thin the herd and avoid severance packages. It’s a cowardly way to handle the headcount issue. We are all putting in the same amount of effort, yet the goalposts are moved every single week to justify PIPs or low rankings. If they need to cut, they should just be transparent about it instead of creating this toxic, high-pressure environment where everyone is waiting for the other shoe to drop. Anyone else feeling the pressure to just walk away because the culture has become so hostile?

It is classic corporate cost-cutting disguised as culture. I have watched so many talented people get pushed into a corner by these new performance metrics that were clearly designed to be impossible to meet. Everyone knows the RTO push is just a way to force resignations so they don't have to pay out severance. It feels like the company culture has completely evaporated in the last few months, and honestly, the remaining talent is already looking for the exit. At this point, the lack of transparency is just insulting to those of us still putting in the hours.
