From what I've seen in similar tech companies, a common formula is 2 weeks of base pay per year of service, plus a minimum of 8 weeks. They might also offer continued health insurance coverage for a period (usually tied to how long you worked there, up to a few months). Don't forget to factor in any unused vacation time they'll pay out. It's worth gathering your most recent performance reviews and any stock option info, as these can play a role or at least give you leverage. Good luck, hoping for the best for you!
Honestly, don't get your hopes up too high. Five years is decent, but severance packages are often less generous than people imagine. While 2 weeks per year *is* common, companies are always looking to cut costs. Start updating your resume and discreetly networking *now*, before any official announcement. Having a plan B ready will be far more beneficial than any severance payout. Better to be proactive than reactive in this market.
