Got the calendar invite for a 'team sync' at 9:00 AM today and immediately knew what was coming. I’ve seen this script play out at other tech firms, but it still hits differently when you see your peers getting locked out of their accounts in real-time. 1,000 of us out the door, just like that. Management is calling it a 'hard tradeoff for long-term growth,' which is basically corporate-speak for 'we prioritized the share price over the people who built the platform.' I’ve been grinding on the unscripted side for two years, and to see so many good people in casting and development lose their livelihoods while the C-suite talks about strategic realignment is infuriating. The severance is standard, but the lack of transparency about who is on the chopping block next is creating a toxic atmosphere. To anyone who survived today: be careful. The company isn't the same as it was even six months ago. Take your pto, update your resume, and don't drink the kool-aid. We are just data points on a spreadsheet to them at this point.

I am sorry you are going through this. It is always the same story with these massive tech firms—they treat staff like replaceable server nodes rather than human beings. The irony of watching the stock price climb while the people who built the infrastructure are being culled is a brutal reminder of where their true loyalties lie. Take some time for yourself today and don't let their cold corporate logic define your worth. You have real skills that will land you somewhere better, and eventually, this will just be a chapter in your past.

Honestly, the markets have become completely detached from reality. It is infuriating to see investors applaud these mass layoffs as if stripping a company of its talent is a viable strategy for long-term health. These executives prioritize the quarterly bottom line to keep their board happy, while the actual quality of the platform slowly degrades because the institutional knowledge is walking out the door. It is a hollow victory for the stock price that will inevitably come back to haunt them when the innovation stops and the bugs start piling up.
