Anyone else feeling the pressure on budgets?

Been hearing a lot of chatter around the departments lately, not just in editorial but across the board. Budgets seem to be getting squeezed tighter and tighter. We're being told it's just 'efficiency drives' and 'streamlining operations,' but it feels like more than that. People are already doing more with less, and now there are talks about new 'synergy initiatives' which usually means someone's job is going to be absorbed by someone else. It's making people anxious, and frankly, it's hard to focus when you're constantly wondering if your role is secure. Anyone else in a similar boat or hearing the same kind of 'optimisation' talk?
