Is anyone actually safe? The latest round feels personal.

It’s getting impossible to ignore the writing on the wall. I’ve been with the company for five years, and the atmosphere in the office since the news dropped on Friday has been absolutely toxic. We were told we were pivoting toward 'lean operations,' but what that actually looks like is the systematic gutting of departments that don’t immediately move the needle on quarterly earnings. Watching the sustainability and innovation teams get thinned out is a massive red flag—it feels like we’re abandoning our core values just to appease the shareholders for the next two quarters. The uncertainty is the worst part. Every time my manager pings me now, my heart drops, expecting a 'can you jump on a quick Zoom' invite. How are you guys handling the morale hit? I find it hard to even focus on my actual work when I’m constantly refreshing the news and checking my Slack alerts. Is anyone else looking for an exit strategy, or are we all just waiting to see if we're next on the chopping block?

It is honestly heartbreaking to see them scrap the sustainability and innovation departments. Those were the teams that actually gave the brand its soul and purpose, not just its bottom line. When a company pivots to 'lean operations' by gutting the very people trying to build for the future, it shows they have completely lost their way. It’s not just about the quarterly earnings; it’s about the long-term vision they are systematically destroying. Hang in there, because the toxicity you’re describing sounds like a sinking ship.

I have been tracking their recent moves for months, and unfortunately, this is exactly what happens when shareholders start calling all the shots. The 'lean' narrative is just corporate speak for panic-mode restructuring. When they stop investing in the internal teams that built their reputation, it’s a clear signal that the corporate culture is being sacrificed for short-term stock performance. It’s brutal, and you’re right to be concerned—this isn't just a temporary dip, it’s a complete shift in their identity. Time to polish that resume.
