I hear you. I'm in engineering, and while nothing concrete has been said, there's definitely a palpable tension. Budgets are being scrutinized like crazy, and hiring has slowed to a crawl. It's always better to be prepared than caught off guard. Dusting off the resume is a smart move, regardless. Check your network, see who's hiring. Glassdoor reviews can sometimes give you a feel for the situation in other departments too.
Cancelled offsites are never a good sign. However, Sales Enablement might be particularly vulnerable right now given the overall economic climate; they are often seen as overhead. Maybe the offsite was genuinely cancelled due to budget cuts unrelated to broader layoffs. Layoffs are always stressful to think about, but there might be other factors at play that are impacting your team.
