My skip-level is a total jerk

Just need to vent for a minute. My skip-level manager is completely out of touch. We had an all-hands meeting last week, and he spent the whole time talking about how "fortunate" we are to work here and how we should all be "grateful" for the opportunities. Dude, my workload has doubled since last quarter, and I'm working nights and weekends just to keep up. Then he says how he's committed to "transparency" but dodges every question about company performance. If things were so great, why is there a hiring freeze and why are people quietly leaving? It's infuriating to listen to this garbage when you're struggling just to stay afloat.

Ugh, that sounds awful. It's so demoralizing when leadership is completely disconnected from the reality on the ground. I've been there, and it really makes you question everything. Start documenting your extra hours and any specific examples of the increased workload. It might be useful if you decide to push back or look for a new opportunity. In the meantime, hang in there! You're not alone.

"Grateful for the opportunity" is code for "We're not paying you enough for this crap." Seriously, transparency is a buzzword they throw around when they want to avoid answering real questions. Don't buy into it. Start polishing your resume. Your skip-level is either clueless or lying. Either way, protect yourself and start looking for a company that values its employees.
