ON Semiconductor: Internal transfers becoming harder?

Has anyone else tried to initiate an internal transfer within ON Semi recently? I've been looking to move to a different team for a while now, and typically it's been pretty straightforward to at least get an interview or a conversation going. Lately, though, it feels like there's a lot more resistance. Positions are staying open longer, and HR seems to be making it harder to even get your application in front of the hiring manager. It's making me wonder if they're trying to consolidate headcount or if internal mobility is being deprioritized. Anyone have insights on why this might be happening? Any tips for navigating internal moves in this climate?

I've noticed something similar. It used to be that if you had a good relationship with your current manager and a clear reason for wanting to move, internal transfers were relatively smooth. Now, it feels like there's more red tape and fewer opportunities being posted. I wonder if it's a shift in company strategy or just a symptom of the current economic climate making them more cautious about staffing changes. It's definitely frustrating when you're trying to grow within the company.

Interesting to hear this. My experience has been a bit different, though I can see why you'd feel that way. I found a role about six months ago and the process was still fairly standard. However, I did hear from a colleague that their transfer request was put on hold for a while due to budget reviews. Perhaps the difficulty varies by department or the specific role you're targeting? It's worth investigating if there are specific bottlenecks in HR or within the hiring departments themselves.
