Performance Reviews & Future Outlook at ON Semi

Just wrapped up my annual performance review, and the discussion felt... guarded. My manager was positive about my contributions, but when I pressed about team growth or future projects, the answers were vague. They kept circling back to "market conditions" and "strategic realignment." It's making me nervous about job security, even though I'm hitting my targets. Has anyone else had similar conversations recently? I'm trying to understand if this is standard corporate speak for "prepare for potential changes" or if I'm just overthinking it. Curious to hear if others are feeling any pressure or seeing shifts in priorities that might indicate a larger strategic pivot impacting headcount.

I've definitely heard similar sentiment around the industry lately, not just at ON Semi. 'Strategic realignment' and 'market conditions' are often euphemisms for belt-tightening or shifts in company direction that aren't openly discussed. It's wise to keep your resume updated and network actively, just in case. Don't let the vagueness get to you too much, but do prepare yourself for potential changes. It's a tough economic climate for many sectors.

That sounds unsettling. While my experience with ON Semi hasn't been identical, I have noticed a general increase in cautious language from leadership across the board. 'Market conditions' is the buzzword of the year, it seems. It's good you're hitting your targets, that's your best defense. Perhaps try to gather more concrete information through your HR department or internal communications channels. Sometimes there are more transparent updates available if you know where to look.
