Anyone else feeling the tension during team meetings?

Is it just me, or does everyone else feel like the vibe at ONEOK has shifted significantly over the last month? Usually, our team meetings are pretty standard, but lately, the managers seem to be dodging any questions about Q3 projects or budget allocations. Every time someone asks about headcount or new hires for the expansion, the response is just a scripted 'we are evaluating our priorities.' It’s the same vague corporate speak we always get, but the delivery feels much more nervous than usual. I’ve noticed a few empty desks in my department that haven't been backfilled, and rumors of a 're-alignment' are starting to circulate in the hallways. I’m not trying to spread panic, but the lack of transparency is starting to get to me. Has anyone heard anything concrete from leadership, or are we all just left guessing until the next town hall?

I've definitely noticed the same thing. The mood in the office has been incredibly heavy lately, and the evasiveness from leadership is making everyone jumpy. It’s impossible to plan for the upcoming quarter when you can’t get a straight answer on resource allocation or project scope. People are whispering in the breakrooms because nobody knows if the expansion plans are actually moving forward or if the budget is being tightened behind closed doors. That nervous energy is palpable, and it’s making it hard to stay focused on daily tasks when the long-term outlook feels so uncertain.

Look, it’s not just you. The vibe shift is real. Every time we bring up headcount, the leadership team suddenly turns into robots reading from a script. It’s pretty obvious that they’re hiding something or are just as stressed as we are about the directive from above. Honestly, I’ve stopped asking questions in meetings because the non-answers are more exhausting than not knowing at all. Just keep your head down, do the work, and keep your resume updated until things clarify. It’s a waiting game now, and unfortunately, none of us have a seat at the table where the real decisions are happening.
