ONEOK - Performance review season and future outlook?

So, performance review season is almost upon us, and as usual, it's got me thinking about job security and the overall direction of the company. Beyond the usual pressure to meet targets, I'm wondering how the current economic climate and energy sector volatility might be influencing how reviews are being conducted and what the implications are for 2024. Are managers being told to be more conservative with ratings? Is there any talk about 'right-sizing' teams based on performance metrics, even if it's not explicitly termed layoffs? I'm trying to understand if this year's review cycle feels different from previous years and if anyone has heard anything that might suggest a shift in how headcount is being viewed. Just trying to prepare myself mentally and professionally.

Honestly, I'm feeling a bit of the same anxiety. The energy sector's been a rollercoaster, and it's natural to worry about how that trickles down into internal reviews. I've heard whispers about a more cautious approach to bonuses and promotions this year, which definitely adds to the pressure. Keeping my head down and focusing on exceeding my goals seems like the best strategy for now, hoping that performance truly speaks for itself.

I'm trying not to get too caught up in the speculation. While the economic climate is a factor, management has always emphasized performance. My advice? Focus on what you can control. Deliver strong results, document your achievements, and communicate effectively with your manager about your contributions. If 'right-sizing' happens, strong performers are usually the most secure. Let's hope for a clear and fair process for everyone.
