ONEOK - Thoughts on the recent market downturn impact?

With everything happening in the broader energy market lately, I'm curious to hear how others at ONEOK think it's affecting things internally. We're a pretty stable company, usually, but the volatility out there has to trickle down somehow, right? Are budgets being scrutinized more? Any hiring freezes that aren't being openly discussed? I'm trying to gauge the overall sentiment and potential impact on job security. Curious to hear perspectives from different areas of the company, not just my own.

Yeah, it's definitely a talking point. I haven't seen any major budget cuts roll out yet, but there's a definite hum of 'let's watch our spending' across the board. Project timelines are being reviewed more closely, and any non-essential travel or training is on hold for now. It feels more like a cautious approach than outright panic, but nobody wants to be the one not paying attention when things get tight.

From my corner, things feel pretty steady. We're focused on our core operations, and the midstream infrastructure business has its own drivers that aren't as directly tied to short-term commodity swings as E&P. That said, everyone's aware of the broader market sentiment. I'd say it's more about being prepared and having contingency plans in place, rather than seeing immediate, drastic changes to day-to-day work or hiring.
