Another round, another ~500 gone. What's the endgame?

Just saw the news about another 500 layoffs hitting Oracle as of Friday, June 27th. This is getting ridiculous. Feels like we're constantly in some kind of restructuring or reduction. I know we're a big company, but the sheer volume of these cuts over the past year or two is concerning. Rumors are always flying about which departments are next. Is this just the new normal for big enterprise software companies, or is something specific happening at Oracle? I've seen reports of them spending big on AI infrastructure, and some articles linking the layoffs to that, but it's hard to reconcile cutting thousands of people with massive investments. Makes you wonder about job security, especially if you're not directly in one of the 'hot' areas. Anyone else feeling the uncertainty? What are people hearing internally about the strategy behind these constant workforce adjustments?

It's tough to see so many colleagues impacted. The constant uncertainty around these reductions must be incredibly stressful for everyone. While large tech companies do undergo shifts, the frequency and scale here certainly raise questions about the long-term strategy and stability. Hoping for more clarity soon and that those affected find new opportunities quickly.
