Layoffs via email? That's cold.

Just saw some chatter about Oracle laying people off via email and the severance packages are apparently pretty bad. Missing out on RSU vesting for people who were close? That's just brutal. I get that companies need to make tough decisions, but doing it impersonally like that, especially when people have banked years of their lives there, feels really disrespectful. Anyone actually on the receiving end of this? What's the deal with the packages? Trying to gauge if this is a widespread thing or just a few unlucky souls. The whole thing just adds to the general feeling of unease in the industry right now, even at supposedly stable places.

Heard similar whispers, though nothing concrete from my end. Layoffs are never easy, but the method described sounds particularly rough. Missing out on RSUs that close to vesting would sting immensely, especially when combined with potentially subpar severance. It really does speak volumes about how a company handles its people during difficult times. Hope those affected land on their feet quickly with better opportunities.

That's a tough way to go, for sure. The email delivery coupled with the RSU situation sounds pretty grim. Companies are always looking at the bottom line, but the human element shouldn't be completely discarded. It's a shame when loyalty and hard work seem to count for so little in the end. Curious to hear more details if anyone is willing to share about the package specifics.
