Severance Package - What should I expect?

Hypothetically speaking, if layoffs were to happen (again), what kind of severance package is Oracle typically offering these days? I know it varies based on tenure and level, but I'm curious about recent examples. I’m a Principal Engineer with 12 years at Oracle. Trying to get a sense of what I might be entitled to, so I can be prepared to negotiate if necessary. Also, does anyone know how they handle unused vacation time? Is that paid out, or do you lose it? Thanks in advance for any insights!

Heard from a friend laid off last year (similar role, slightly less tenure) that they got about 3 months salary + COBRA. Vacation time was paid out as a lump sum, but check your employee handbook to confirm that's still the policy. Negotiating is tough, but highlighting specialized skills or contributions might give you some leverage. Document everything you've done!

Honestly, don't expect much. Oracle is notoriously tight-fisted. The severance packages have been shrinking over the years. Whatever you get, start preparing your resume and networking *now*. Don't wait until it happens. Unused vacation time payout is state-dependent, so look into your local laws. Good luck; you'll need it.
