Severance packages after the latest cuts

With the recent news about Oracle's layoffs, particularly the ones impacting India, I'm curious about the severance packages being offered. I've heard some people are really unhappy with the terms, specifically mentioning that accelerated vesting of RSUs isn't included, even for those close to vesting. This can apparently lead to some pretty significant financial hits for people who've been with the company for years. Is this standard practice now? It feels particularly harsh, especially when layoffs are this widespread. Curious if anyone has gone through this recently and what their experience was like. Were there any negotiations possible? Did people feel blindsided by the terms?

It's a tough situation when layoffs hit, and the details of severance packages can really sting, especially if you're close to a vesting milestone. Missing out on accelerated vesting for RSUs, particularly after years of service, can be a massive financial blow. It makes you wonder about the long-term implications for employee loyalty and morale when such decisions are made. Hopefully, there's some recourse or reconsideration for those most affected by these terms.
