Woke up to the usual Slack lockout this morning and confirmed via the WARN notice that 359 of us in the Seattle/WA area are officially out as of Nov 13. Honestly, after watching the news about the debt-fueled AI pivot and the endless rounds of cuts over the last few years, I’m not even surprised. It’s just the same routine—system access gone at the crack of dawn, followed by that sterile email. The biggest sting is the severance package. They aren't budging on the RSU vesting, which is leaving a ton of money on the table for people who have been grinding here for years. If you’re still in, keep your resume polished and start backing up your personal files. It feels like the meat grinder is just getting started, and no one is safe regardless of performance reviews. Is anyone actually seeing meaningful severance negotiations, or are they just sticking to the standard template?

I'm sorry to hear you got hit with this. It’s the same old story with leadership prioritizing the stock price over the people who actually built the infrastructure. Losing access before you even get a chance to process the news is such a cowardly way to handle layoffs. Don’t let them make you feel like this is personal—it’s just a spreadsheet game to them. Take some time for yourself, dust off the resume when you're ready, and keep an eye on the boards for better opportunities outside of that toxic culture.

At this point, anyone expecting loyalty from Oracle is setting themselves up for disappointment. It’s been clear for years that the headcount is just a line item to be trimmed whenever the AI pivot narrative needs a bit more funding. The fact that they are clawing back RSUs just proves they don't value the talent they’ve been burning through. You’re better off out of that environment. It’s a brutal way to be let go, but eventually, you’ll realize that being pushed out of that sinking ship was actually a blessing in disguise.
