Anyone else seen the internal memo regarding the Gas City closure?

Just saw the notification hit the wires about the 72 people in Gas City getting the axe in November. Honestly, it feels like the writing has been on the wall for a while now. Management keeps talking about 'operational efficiency' and 'streamlining,' but we all know that's just corporate speak for cost-cutting to keep the share price floating. I've been with PAC for six years and I’ve never seen the morale this low. Is there any chatter about other plants potentially being targeted before year-end? I’m hearing rumors from some of the regional guys that they’re planning to consolidate more operations throughout the Midwest to offset the rising material costs. If anyone has eyes on the internal project trackers or knows if HR is planning more 'adjustments' in Q1, please share. Just trying to figure out if I should start polishing the resume now or wait until after the holidays. This place is starting to feel like a sinking ship.

It is a brutal situation for everyone in Gas City. I have been hearing whispers in the breakroom about the company tightening the belt across several mid-sized facilities, not just there. They keep using these vague buzzwords about synergy and efficiency, but it clearly masks a plan to consolidate production into the newer, high-automation sites. If you are at one of the older plants with lower output, I would suggest keeping your resume updated just in case. The lack of transparency from leadership is what makes it so nerve-wracking for the rest of us.

Hard to be surprised by this news given how the industry has been trending lately. The memo was cold, but that is standard operating procedure for this management team when they decide to liquidate assets. They are laser-focused on the quarterly earnings report and could not care less about the human cost of these closures. My advice is to stop waiting for clarity from the top and start networking outside the company immediately. Once they start cutting, they rarely stop at just one location, so look for a landing spot before the dominoes keep falling.
