Feeling the pressure at PAC Global

Okay, so I haven't seen any official announcements or anything directly from HR about layoffs at Packaging Corp, but man, the pressure is on. My department has been told to 'optimize efficiency' and 'streamline workflows.' This usually translates to doing more with less, which is fine, but lately it feels like they're grooming us for something. My manager's been asking a lot about cross-training and essential functions. It's making me nervous. Has anyone else at PAC Global had conversations like this? It's not quite a layoff report, but the feeling is there. Just want to know if I'm overthinking this or if others are in the same boat and feel like things are tightening up.

I'm in a similar boat. We've been hearing a lot about 'strategic realignment' and 'synergies' lately. My team's workload has definitely increased, and there's a general sense of unease. The cross-training push is also happening here, which is definitely a red flag. Management is being unusually vague about future plans, so it's hard not to get worried. Hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst.

Hang in there. I've noticed the same kind of talk within my division. 'Efficiency' and 'streamlining' seem to be the buzzwords of the month. While some of it might be genuine business improvement, the intensity and the focus on individual roles does raise some eyebrows. It's good you're thinking ahead about your skills and responsibilities. Stay observant and try to network with people in other departments if you can.
