Is it just me or is hiring slowing down significantly?

Been here a while and noticed the pace of hiring has definitely changed. Feels like just a year or two ago, we were expanding headcount across the board pretty aggressively. Now, it seems like roles are taking way longer to fill, if they get approved at all. Some positions that were open for months just got quietly closed. This isn't necessarily about *layoffs* happening, but more about the *lack* of incoming talent and the general tightening of the belt. Are others in different departments seeing the same? Is there a hiring freeze I'm not aware of, or is this just a strategic shift in resource allocation? Trying to understand the bigger picture here.

Definitely feeling this. My team had an open req for a senior engineer that was open for nearly six months before it was eventually canceled. It's a stark contrast to a couple of years ago when we were bringing on new people almost every quarter. Feels like a significant shift in strategy, and it's making resource planning a lot trickier when you can't rely on getting the headcount you need. Curious to see if this is a company-wide trend or specific to certain divisions.
