Severance package - what to expect?

Hypothetically speaking, if Palo Alto Networks were to do a layoff, what kind of severance package are we looking at? I've heard some rumblings, and I'm trying to prepare myself. I've been with the company for 3 years in a technical marketing role. Is it typically based on tenure? Does anyone have experience with past layoffs at PANW or similar companies? Any insight is greatly appreciated. I know this is a sensitive topic, but I'd rather be informed than caught off guard. Thanks!

I haven't been at Palo Alto for a layoff, but in my experience at other large tech companies, severance packages are usually based on tenure. Expect roughly 2 weeks of pay for every year you've worked there, plus maybe a month or two of benefits continuation. They might also offer outplacement services to help you find a new job. Read the fine print of any agreement very carefully before you sign anything.

Rumors are always swirling, especially now. My advice? Don't panic until you see something concrete. Focus on your work and making yourself indispensable. While severance is good to know about, worrying about layoffs can be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Update your resume and LinkedIn profile *just in case*, but don't let it consume you. Three years is a decent amount of time, so you'd likely get something reasonable if it came to it.
