Heard whispers about restructuring in the Groton R&D site?

Anyone else hearing stuff about a potential re-org hitting the Groton, CT R&D site? I'm in preclinical development, been here for 7 years, and the rumor mill is usually pretty accurate. The talk is that certain departments are underperforming (allegedly) and facing significant cuts, possibly even being consolidated with other sites. I'm not sure if this means layoffs or just internal transfers, but either way, it's unsettling. My manager hasn't said anything concrete, but they've been acting weird lately, canceling one-on-ones and generally being less communicative. Anyone else experiencing similar vibes? Trying to gauge how worried I should be about starting to polish up the resume...

Yeah, the rumors are definitely swirling. I'm in a different department but I've heard similar things. They've been tightening the purse strings across the board lately with budget cuts and cancelled projects. My advice would be to update your resume, start networking internally and externally. Better to be prepared than caught off guard. It sucks but it's the reality of working in pharma these days.

Honestly, take the rumor mill with a grain of salt. Every few months there's some 'major restructuring' supposedly in the works. I've been through three 'major restructurings' in my ten years here and they were all overblown. Just keep your head down, focus on your work, and don't let the gossip distract you. If something happens, it happens, but worrying about it won't help anything.
