NJ Site Consolidation: Anyone else just get the invite?

It’s happening again. Just got the calendar invite for a 'brief sync' with HR and my skip-level manager for tomorrow morning. We all know what that means. The 56 number floating around the news feels like a lowball estimate or just the first wave of a wider push to lean out the NJ footprint. I’ve been here for five years and the anxiety in the office today was palpable—nobody is actually working, we're all just staring at our screens and waiting for the axe to fall. If you’re in the building, check your outlook calendars. Is anyone else hearing if this is just localized to R&D or if G&A is catching heat too? I’m already refreshing my resume and pulling my performance reviews just in case. It sucks that it’s always right before the quarter ends. If you’re impacted, what’s the severance package looking like? I heard rumors they’re trying to claw back some of the benefits from last year, but who knows at this point. Stay safe everyone, keep your LinkedIn status hidden for now.

I went through this exact same thing during the last round of cuts. That 'brief sync' invite is a classic corporate tell, and it’s honestly insulting how they try to play it off as a routine check-in. Don't bother trying to get any work done today; focus entirely on saving your personal files and getting your contacts off the internal server. Trust your gut—if you have a bad feeling, start updating your resume immediately and reach out to your network before the access gets cut off tomorrow. It’s a ruthless environment, so look out for yourself first.

It is honestly exhausting watching the cycle repeat itself every single year. The leadership keeps talking about 'operational efficiency' while the actual talent is just treated like a line item on a spreadsheet to be slashed. I know the stress is overwhelming right now, but try to remember that your worth isn't tied to your badge number. If the ax falls, take the package, take a breath, and realize you are better off out of that toxic cycle anyway. Hopefully, the numbers stay low, but keep your head on a swivel.
