Layoff Report

Are we headed for another round of 'voluntary' departures?

Seeing some chatter on the internal channels about folks being offered VSP packages again. I haven't seen anything official hit my inbox, but a buddy in the San Ramon office mentioned that HR is sniffing around for people near retirement age or those who might be looking for a 'transition out.' It feels like they’re trying to avoid the bad PR of a mass layoff by framing it as a choice. Honestly, if the package is anywhere near as decent as the last one, I might actually take it. The burnout here is real, and between the constant pressure from the CPUC and the endless documentation requirements, I’m just tired. Does anyone know if they are actually moving forward with this, or is this just standard rumors mill nonsense? If they *are* doing it, I want to be first in line to look at the numbers. I’d rather take a voluntary exit than wait around to be 'impacted' six months down the line when they decide to cut overhead even deeper. Has anyone else heard a specific date for when these offers might drop?

The rumor mill has been spinning for weeks, but honestly, at this point, I’ll take a VSP over the constant uncertainty. It’s no secret that morale is in the basement, and if they’re willing to pay people to leave quietly, it saves everyone the headache of a drawn-out restructuring. If you’re even remotely eligible, I’d suggest talking to a financial advisor now so you’re ready to jump if the email actually drops. It’s better to control your own exit than to wait for the next wave of 'operational efficiencies' to force your hand later down the road.

I wouldn't hold my breath just yet. We’ve heard these same whispers every quarter for years, and most of the time it’s just people venting about their own frustrations rather than actual corporate policy. San Ramon always has someone claiming to have 'insider info' near the water cooler, but until something lands on the intranet, it’s just noise. If you’re feeling burnt out, don't base your life plans on hallway gossip. Stick to your work, keep your head down, and wait for the official comms before you start packing your desk.
