I'm not an employee but I've been following the company's transition very closely. The push into non-combustible products is a massive undertaking, and it's understandable there'd be some internal adjustments. Budget scrutiny and hiring pauses often accompany such strategic shifts as resources are reallocated. It’s probably more about optimizing for the future than a sign of immediate crisis, but uncertainty is natural during major change.
Interesting perspective from an insider. The industry is definitely navigating choppy waters. I imagine the focus is heavily on R&D and marketing for those newer product categories, which could explain budget reallocations and a more cautious approach to traditional roles. It'll be crucial to see how quickly they can gain market share and prove the viability of their 'smoke-free future' vision to investors and internally.
