Another 50 gone in CA. Is this the new normal or just cleanup?

Saw the new WARN notice for the 50 roles in CA effective March 10th. It feels like they are just shaving off small groups every month to keep the total below the massive headline-grabbing numbers. It’s exhausting watching the internal email list dwindle. I’ve been here over six years and the atmosphere is just pure anxiety at this point. We’re all constantly checking our Slack status to see who’s still online after 5 PM. Does anyone know if this is the end of the restructuring for Q1, or is the rumor mill saying there’s a much larger shoe about to drop in the spring? I’m tired of trying to guess if I should start prepping for interviews now or wait until the next notification cycle. It’s hard to stay focused on deliverables when you feel like a headcount line item.

It is honestly becoming a monthly ritual at this point. They aren't doing big splashy layoffs anymore because that destroys the stock price and morale all at once. By drip-feeding these cuts in smaller batches, they avoid the media attention while achieving the same headcount reduction. It is a calculated strategy to keep us off balance. Don't expect this to stop in Q1, as the management seems committed to 'operational efficiency' indefinitely. Start looking elsewhere now while you still have the peace of mind to interview.

I understand the anxiety, but from a business perspective, Qualcomm is pivoting hard toward automotive and IoT segments. These ongoing shifts are unfortunately just the cost of reallocating resources away from legacy mobile divisions. It sucks for those caught in the crossfire, but this is the reality of a company trying to stay relevant in a changing market. I wouldn't hold your breath for a 'done' date. Just keep your resume updated and focus on your own personal growth rather than waiting for the corporate axe to fall.
