Anyone else feeling the pressure from the recent performance reviews?

It feels like the atmosphere in the office has completely shifted since the beginning of the year. I know we saw the WARN notice for those 50 positions in CA, but the word on the floor is that this is just the tip of the iceberg. Management keeps pushing the 'performance-focused' narrative, but it feels like they’re just using it as a convenient cover to trim headcount without calling it a massive RIF. I’ve been here for over five years, and I’ve never seen morale this low. Every meeting now feels like a countdown. They talk about 'restructuring' and 'streamlining' every quarter, but all that really translates to is more work for the people who survived the last round. My team is already spread thin, and with the latest guidance, I’m genuinely wondering if I’m next on the chopping block. Is anyone else noticing the metrics being moved just to justify a 'needs improvement' rating? It feels predatory at this point. I've started dusting off my resume just in case, but the job market doesn't seem much better right now. Anyone getting any actual transparency from their managers, or is it just 'keep your head down and work harder'?

I totally feel you. The vibe in the office is completely toxic right now. It is incredibly obvious that these 'performance improvement plans' are just a targeted way to push people out without having to deal with the legal headache of a formal layoff. They want us to believe it is about standards, but we all know the budget is the only thing driving these decisions. I’ve been looking for an exit for weeks now because the anxiety of wondering if I’m next is just not worth the paycheck anymore.

It is honestly sad to watch the culture deteriorate like this. Qualcomm used to feel like a place where you could build a career, but now it just feels like a game of musical chairs where the music is about to stop. The leadership team is being completely disingenuous with the performance narrative, and everyone can see right through it. If you have been here a while, you know the cycle, but this definitely feels different and much more aggressive. Update your resume and don't take it personally; the company is just chasing short-term numbers.
