Hypothetical severance package Q - what to expect?

Purely hypothetical, of course, but I'm trying to get a realistic picture. If Qualcomm *were* to do layoffs, what kind of severance package are we talking about? I'm in engineering, band 5, been with the company for 6 years. I've heard rumors ranging from 2 weeks per year to 1 month per year, plus unused vacation. Anyone have actual experience or reliable insight on what Qualcomm typically offers? Trying to figure out my worst-case-scenario financial runway.

Band 5 with 6 years? I'd lean towards expecting closer to 2 weeks per year of service, plus any accrued vacation. One month per year is definitely on the higher end, and usually only given to long-timers or very senior folks. Factor in continuation of benefits for a month or two, at most. Start updating your resume *now*, before anything official happens. Better to be prepared than scrambling later.

Honestly, don't put too much stock in rumors. What they *might* offer is less important than what you negotiate. If you're impacted, don't just accept the first offer. Try to get them to extend your benefits longer, or add outplacement services. Companies are often more willing to budge than people realize, especially if you have leverage like specialized skills or a pending project. Good luck!
