Is the 'smartphone slump' finally hitting the core teams?

It feels like we've been hearing about the sluggish mobile market for two years now, but the drip-feed of these layoffs is starting to wear everyone down. Everyone I talk to in the hallways is just waiting for the next round of invites. We're cutting 100 here, 1,000 there, but the stock price is just hovering. I’m curious if any of you are seeing actual changes in the project pipeline, or are we just running the same skeleton crews into the ground? My lead keeps saying we need to 'do more with less,' but the 'less' part is definitely winning. I’m tired of the mid-year performance reviews where they ask about my career growth while we’re all literally counting the days until the next WARN notice drops. Is there any department that actually feels stable right now, or are we all just playing musical chairs on the Titanic?

The 'do more with less' mantra is getting exhausting, especially when the project pipeline feels like it's stuck in a holding pattern. It’s not just the layoffs; it’s the uncertainty of watching teams get hollowed out while leadership acts like everything is business as usual. I’ve noticed the focus shifting heavily toward Automotive and IoT, which makes sense on paper, but the mobile teams definitely feel like they are being squeezed until there’s nothing left to give. It’s hard to stay motivated when you’re constantly looking over your shoulder wondering if your project is the next one on the chopping block.

Honestly, it feels like the company is just trying to stop the bleeding by shaving off headcount in chunks rather than committing to a clear strategic pivot. The mobile market isn't coming back to the glory days of 2021, and everyone knows it, yet the pipeline looks exactly the same as it did three years ago. We are just grinding away on legacy tech while waiting for the next notification. If they’re going to trim the fat, I wish they’d just be transparent about where we’re actually heading instead of dragging out the misery with these constant, incremental cuts.
