Raymond James - Is anyone else seeing reduced headcount/opportunities?

Hey everyone, long-time lurker here, first-time poster. Been at RJ for a few years now in [Department/Division]. Lately, I've noticed a definite slowdown in new projects and a general feeling of 'belt-tightening' across the board. It's not just my team; I've heard whispers from colleagues in other departments about fewer external hires being brought in, and some teams seem to be consolidating roles rather than backfilling. I know it's not peak season for financial services right now, but this feels different than just a typical seasonal dip. Anyone else experiencing this? Are you seeing fewer opportunities, or is it just a general sense of caution pervading the firm? Trying to gauge if this is specific to my area or a broader trend. Not trying to cause panic, just gather some intel.

I've been with RJ for a while and while I haven't seen major layoffs, there's definitely a shift in hiring. It feels like they're being more selective and prioritizing internal moves or very specific skill sets. The 'belt-tightening' is noticeable, with a bit more scrutiny on budgets and project approvals. It might be industry-wide, but it's certainly palpable within the firm.

Interesting to hear others are feeling this. My experience has been similar – fewer external opportunities popping up and a sense that departments are being asked to do more with less. It's not necessarily a crisis, but it does make you wonder about the long-term growth trajectory and how it impacts career progression if things stay this way.
