Anyone else hitting the eject button voluntarily?

After the news this morning, I’m officially done waiting for the other shoe to drop. This is the second round of layoffs I’ve survived, but my mental health is completely shot. Every time an email comes through from leadership with 'Important Update' in the subject line, my heart just drops into my stomach. I’ve started polishing the resume and reaching out to my network outside the EV space. Rivian has some cool tech, but the constant uncertainty is just not sustainable for my family. I’d rather take a pay cut elsewhere for some actual job security than keep staring at my screen wondering if I’m going to lose my access at 2 PM on a Tuesday. Does anyone have advice on the severance package negotiation? Are they actually offering anything decent, or is it the bare minimum again?

I hear you loud and clear. That constant fight-or-flight response every time a notification pings is absolutely toxic. No paycheck is worth living in a state of perpetual anxiety where you’re just waiting for the next round of cuts. It’s smart to prioritize your mental health and start looking elsewhere. Plenty of other companies would value your experience without the soul-crushing instability that seems to have become the company culture lately. Take care of yourself and your family first.

Honestly, it feels like the honeymoon phase for the brand is long gone. When the internal communication starts to feel like a recurring nightmare, it’s definitely a sign that it’s time to move on. You’ve been through the ringer twice now, and loyalty shouldn't mean sacrificing your own peace of mind. The EV market is notoriously volatile, and honestly, the grass might be much greener in a more established industry where you can actually sleep through the night without worrying about your job security.
