Anyone else's manager suddenly very vague about performance reviews?

It's that time of year again, or it should be. My manager has been super cagey about setting up my 1:1 performance review. When I asked, they just said 'things are a bit up in the air right now, we'll get to it.' This is unusual, they're normally pretty on top of it. I'm in manufacturing engineering, been with Rivian for 4 years. Just feels like a weird deflection. Anyone else getting the runaround when it comes to performance discussions? Trying to figure out if it's a company-wide thing or just my specific team/manager.

Am I being paranoid or is it actually getting quiet?

Been here about 3 years, in the software dev side for R2. Lately, it feels like the usual internal project buzz has really died down. Fewer all-hands updates, my manager seems less communicative about future roadmaps, and I swear the usual Slack channels are less active. Usually, this time of year is pretty hectic gearing up for the next sprint cycle, but it feels... stagnant. Is anyone else on the engineering side noticing this? Could just be me, but it feels different.

Stomach's in knots. How to prep for the worst?

Look, I've been through layoffs before at other companies, and the waiting is the absolute worst part. Even if nothing happens, I'm operating under the assumption something *could* happen. So, I'm updating my resume, hitting up my network, and trying to mentally prepare. What else should I be doing? Has anyone successfully negotiated a better severance in the past? Or maybe gotten a heads-up from their manager before the official announcement? Share any tips – I could really use them right now.

Anyone else's workload suddenly... lighter?

Okay, I'm in manufacturing and things have been... weird. Like, *noticeably* less busy this past week. My usual firehose of tasks has slowed to a trickle. I'm not complaining about less work, but it's making me super anxious. I've been here almost 3 years and this feels different from the usual end-of-quarter lull. Anyone else experiencing this in their department? Trying to gauge if it's just my little corner of the org or something bigger brewing...

Just saw a role reposted... kinda sus?

Okay, so I was browsing the internal job board and saw a position in my department (Engineering - embedded systems) that's almost IDENTICAL to mine. Same title, same responsibilities, everything. My manager hasn't said anything about performance or anything like that. I've actually gotten pretty good feedback lately. Is this some kind of weird internal shuffle, or a way to quietly replace people with cheaper hires? Starting to panic, especially with all the talk lately. Anyone else see this happen with their role?

Heard rumblings in supply chain - anyone else?

I'm in supply chain, been here for almost 3 years. The vibe has been off lately. A lot of closed-door meetings with the higher-ups, and people seem more stressed than usual, even by Rivian standards. I overheard a snippet of a conversation about 'restructuring' near the coffee machine the other day. Could be nothing, but it felt... ominous. Anyone else hearing things, especially in supply chain or manufacturing? Trying not to freak out, but my mortgage is kinda riding on this job, you know?

Rant: So tired of the constant pressure!

Honestly, I'm just so burnt out. The pressure to deliver these past few quarters has been insane. We're constantly being pushed to work longer hours, weekends are becoming the norm, and the deadlines are completely unrealistic. I understand that we're a startup and need to prove ourselves, but this is unsustainable. My team is already short-staffed, and if they cut anyone else, I don't know how we'll manage. I'm starting to resent coming to work, and my mental health is suffering. Something has to give. I'm seriously considering looking for another job, even if it means taking a pay cut. My well-being is more important than a fancy title or stock options at this point.

Severance Package - What to expect?

Hypothetically speaking, if Rivian were to do layoffs, what do you think the severance package would look like? I'm in software engineering, level 3, been here for 2.5 years. I've heard whispers of 2 weeks per year of service, plus accrued PTO payout. Is that standard? Trying to prepare myself, just in case. Also, does anyone know if they'd offer outplacement services? I've never been through a layoff before, so any info would be super helpful. Thanks in advance.

Anyone else feeling on edge lately?

I've been at Rivian for almost 4 years now, in the battery management systems team. Things have been…weird, the last couple of months. There's this low-level anxiety that I can't shake. The VP of Engineering had a closed-door meeting with my manager last week, and since then, my manager has been super tight-lipped and stressed. I know budgets are always tight, but there's been extra scrutiny on expenses, even small things like ordering parts for testing. I'm not saying layoffs are definitely coming, but I've seen this movie before at my old company. Anyone else getting similar vibes? Trying to stay positive, but it's hard when you see the writing on the wall.

RANT: Stop with the damn virtue signaling!

Okay, I need to vent. I'm so tired of the company constantly patting itself on the back about how 'sustainable' and 'eco-friendly' we are, while simultaneously churning out these massive trucks that require a fortune in batteries and resources! It feels completely disingenuous. Especially when some of us are worried about job security, and upper management is probably raking in bonuses based on pushing volume. If they really cared about the environment, they would be offering incentives for employees to carpool. Give me a break. I'm in engineering, and my hands are tied on the design.

Severance package - what to expect?

Hypothetically speaking, if there *were* to be layoffs, what should we expect for severance? I'm trying to get a sense of what's considered 'standard' these days. I've heard whispers of 2 weeks per year of service, but is that before or after taxes? Also, does unused PTO usually get paid out? Any insights from people who've been through this before at other companies would be greatly appreciated. Trying to be prepared, just in case. Location is Normal, IL.

Anyone else feeling on edge lately?

I'm in manufacturing, been here almost 4 years. I can't shake this feeling that something's coming. It's been quiet, too quiet. Remember how chill things were right before the last 'restructuring'? Everyone kept saying "nah, we're good" and then BAM. I'm not saying it *is* happening, but my anxiety is through the roof. Anyone else feeling this? Maybe it's just the usual pre-earnings jitters, but I keep refreshing the news. My wife is tired of me.
