It’s happening again. Just got the dreaded meeting invite for a 1:1 with HR this morning. Honestly, I saw the writing on the wall after the last round of earnings, but that doesn't make it any less of a gut punch. The mood in the office has been abysmal for months—just constant hushed tones and everyone watching their Slack status like a hawk. I feel like we’re playing a never-ending game of musical chairs where the music never actually stops, it just gets quieter. For those of us left behind, is there even a roadmap anymore? Or are we just burning cash until the next round of news cycle headlines? I’m checking in to see if any other teams were hit as hard as Engineering/Ops today. Stay strong everyone, this industry is absolutely brutal right now.

Look, it sucks, but anyone who has been paying attention to the cash burn and the production targets knew this was inevitable. Rivian has been bleeding talent and resources for a while now, and the market doesn't have the patience for these endless delays. It is brutal, but business is business at the end of the day. If you are still there, stop agonizing over Slack statuses and start updating your resume. This company is clearly in survival mode, and you need to look out for your own career first.
