Anyone else getting that pre-layoff anxiety again?

I swear, the feeling is back. Remember back in 2022 when everyone was on edge? I'm getting the same vibes. My skip-level has been super vague in meetings lately, and a couple of people on my team (Growth, been here 3 years) have suddenly started taking a lot of PTO. Maybe it's nothing, but I've seen this movie before. Anyone else sensing something in the air? Or am I just paranoid? I'm starting to dust off my resume just in case. What are your early warning signs?

I feel you. The vague skip-level is a classic sign. Happened at my last company right before a big RIF. Growth is usually one of the first areas hit, too, unfortunately. Definitely a good call to update your resume, even if it's just to be prepared. Keep an eye on any projects getting quietly shelved or budgets being cut. Those are usually dead giveaways. Good luck!

Honestly, people take PTO. Skip-levels are often vague. Maybe it's just normal summer slowdown? Three years is a decent run, and people get restless. I wouldn't panic just yet. Unless you see actual hard evidence like hiring freezes, project cancellations, or a sudden push for 'efficiency,' it's probably just anxiety talking. Focus on your work and try not to read too much into things you can't control.
