Rant: My manager is completely checked out

Okay, I need to vent. My manager is completely useless. Since Q4 ended, they've been phoning it in. They're late to every meeting, barely contribute, and seem completely disengaged. I'm on the brokerage team, and we're trying to launch this new feature, but it's like pulling teeth to get any kind of direction or support. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they already know something we don't and are just coasting until the inevitable. It's incredibly frustrating because I actually want to do good work, but it's impossible when my manager is MIA. Seriously considering transferring teams, but what's the point if the whole company is about to implode anyway?

I feel you. It's rough when your manager is MIA. Happened to me last year. Turns out the rumors were true, restructuring was coming. Polish your resume, just in case. Document everything YOU do, and keep lines of communication open with skip-level management if possible. Better to be prepared than blindsided. Good luck!

Honestly, maybe cut them a little slack. End of year can be brutal. Everyone needs a breather sometimes, even managers. Have you tried directly asking what support they need to get re-engaged? A direct, non-accusatory conversation might be more productive than just stewing. Maybe they're dealing with something personal, or just burnt out. Communication is key.
