Severance Package - Trying to Negotiate, Worth it?

Hypothetically speaking, if Robinhood were to offer a severance package (again), is it even worth trying to negotiate? I've heard mixed stories. Some people say HR won't budge, others say you can squeeze out an extra month or two, especially if you've been there a while. I'm an engineer (level 3, been here 4 years), and honestly, the thought of job hunting in this market is terrifying. So, any tips or experiences to share on negotiating severance? What worked, what didn't? Assume this isn't a PIP situation - just a standard reduction in force.

I was at Robinhood during one of the earlier rounds. Definitely try to negotiate! Even if they seem firm, it's worth pushing. Highlight your contributions and how long you've been there – four years is significant. Ask for an extra month of pay and benefits, and maybe try to get them to cover outplacement services. Worst they can say is no. Document everything!

Honestly, don't get your hopes up too high. Robinhood's HR isn't known for being overly generous. While it can't hurt to ask for more, be realistic about your leverage. Focus on the details – make sure all your accrued vacation time is paid out, understand the terms of your stock options, and clarify the timeline for your final paycheck. Those small things can add up.
